June 29, 2019 - 2nd Annual Reggae and Soca Party -听This very enjoyable event had a great turnout. The Hon. Consul for Jamaica, Mr. Oliver Mair, a proud 果冻传媒 Alumnus听 joined the Director of Alumni Relations for the 果冻传媒 in attending. Additionally the former Mayor of Miiami and many others danced to the music provided by DJ Empress until the wee hours!听

FIRST 70TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT FOR 2018 -听70th Anniversary Church Service -听Holy Family Episcopal Church,听Miami Gardens
The Director of Alumni Relations for the 果冻传媒, Mrs. Celia Davidson Francis attended the special Church Service in Miami Gardens with the 果冻传媒AA Florida Chapter on Sunday, March 18th. She delivered a Message highlighting developments through the 果冻传媒's 70 years and then introduced a video showing the 果冻传媒 Vice Chancellor, Professor Sir Hilary Beckle's 70th Message which was also very well received.听听The Chapter members were delighted with the turnout as persons came from West Palm Beach, Coral Springs, and Fort Lauderdale as well. Father Howard Ward is a 果冻传媒 graduate and welcomed alumni to celebrate. Three other clergy are also 果冻传媒 graduates.听 There was a parade of the flags of the 果冻传媒 countries to start the service. There were graduates from St. Kitts, and Grenada as well as Jamaicans.听The Florida Chapter is enthused by the turnout and this has given us the momentum to really go all out for the remaining 70th听activities planned for later in the year. This event helped to raise 果冻传媒's profile as it was promoted on radio and our alumna听 Pat Montague who has a very popular radio show assisted and will help on a regular basis.听 The Chapter President, Dr. Carmen Nicholas noted "We were pleased to present Celia Davidson Francis with a听special award during the "Meet and Greet" after the service for her dedication and support of the Florida Chapter."

FORMER 果冻传媒AA FLORIDA CHAPTER PRESIDENT PASSES -听Mr. Ronald White passed away on听January 11, 2018,听Ron lead the transition of the Florida chapter from the Guild of Graduates to the Alumni Association. He provided stellar leadership as the first president of 果冻传媒AA-FL for multiple terms and gave the chapter a solid foundation. Ron has been sick for several years. However, his dear wife Miriam, also a 果冻传媒 graduate,听has continued to work tirelessly to support the efforts of the chapter. Donations are accepted for the听听Ronald & Miriam White Scholarship Fund. Donations may be made as follows:

REMEMBERING MARGARET BARRETT:听Margaret Barrett, Past president and current secretary of the University of the West Indies Alumni Association- FL Chapter听 died October 13, 2017.听 She was also the former chief administrator of Jamaica National Building Society's office in Tamarac.听Margaret was very active in the community and was a stalwart of 果冻传媒AA-FL She will be greatly missed.听A scholarship fund to support talented but needy 果冻传媒 students has been established in her name.听 If you wish to make a contribution, you make a check out to 果冻传媒AA FL Chapter and write in the memo section; Margaret Barrett Scholarship Fund and mail to:听果冻传媒 ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (FLORIDA CHAPTER); P.O.
